Working collaboratively with old friend/artist Craig Earp, we created 2 bespoke 48 sheet billboards for the 48Sheet project curated by EC Arts. The theme that was set for the brief was 'cultural curiosity'.
Our pieces approached this from two different angles. The first piece presented the city (Birmingham) as a stage set, underpinned by an industrial base below the stage, the 'set' suggested a view towards the city centre from the green belt surrounding it where many industries were once based but are now no more.
Our second piece explored the layers of torn billboards that are seen the world over. These create accidental narratives and juxtapositions. Having know each other for a long time Craig and I shared a lot of cultural reference points, some of which we incorporated into this piece.
