Ghosts in the Ruins

Commissioned by Coventry City of Culture I created a visual element as part of Nitin Sawhney's 'Ghosts in the ruins' - a site specific performance in response to Benjamin Britten's War Requiem in the magnificent Coventry Cathedral, it combined choral compositions, poetry and soundscapes and was performed over three nights 27-29 January 2022.

Working with archival images from the city, I created three sequences to accompany the soundscapes, Ashes, Seeds of Hope & Phoenix. Six projectors illuminated the 7m x 25m columns of the Cathedral to move the audiences from the point in WWII when the original Cathedral was bombed through the post war period to present day Coventry a vibrant and diverse city of sanctuary.
